Gnosis is just a word and “What’s in a name?” asks Shakespeare.

Words can have different meanings depending on ones own gnosis. By its Greek meaning gnosis means knowing or knowledge. but why call mind gnosis?. That is the real question.

Gnowlege was embodied in the image of the sun because mans perception of his world was through his eyes which receives light.

The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is sound, your entire body will be full of light.But if your eye is unsound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the very light in your conscience is darkened, how dense is that darkness!

While men are fallible and prone to tricks of light. There is comfort in the realization that energy is itself eternal. It can neither be created nor destroyed.

The thing that has been–it is what will be again, and that which has been done is that which will be done again; and there is nothing new under the sun.

We can see the idea of gnosis and light demonstrated in the Greek word for a sundial, Genomon.

The root “Gnome” meant an idea or thought. “On” is variation of the ancient Semitic sky god Anu. “An” today carries this idea of being over or above. The sky representing the great light during the day and all the stars of the universe at night.

The Greek initiate that sought this special knowledge in the ancient world would enter the mystery schools to gain nous(mind). Even today we call those that take the time to gain knowledge, Genius or G-nous.

In the world today we are surrounded by experts. Faceless men that declare truths and change minds on a whim. But what of wisdom that is bought and not earned?

Hugh B Nibley had this to say:
Both the black and the white robes proclaim a primary concern for things of the mind and the spirit, sobriety of life, and concentration of purpose removed from the largely mindless, mechanical routines of your everyday world. Cap and gown announced that the wearer had accepted certain rules of living and been tested in special kinds of knowledge. What is wrong, then, with the flowing robes? For one thing, they are somewhat theatrical and too easily incline the wearer, beguiled by their splendor, to masquerade and affectation. In the time of Socrates, the Sophists were making a big thing of their special manner of dress and delivery.5 It was all for show, of course, but it was “dressing for success” with a vengeance, for the whole purpose of the rhetorical brand of education which they inaugurated and sold at top prices to the ambitious youth was to make the student successful as a paid advocate in the law courts, a commanding figure in the public assemblies, or a successful promoter of daring business enterprises by mastering those then irresistible techniques of persuasion and salesmanship which the Sophists had to offer.

Knowledge became secret and used for power of profit. A man who had not yet gained his own Gnosis as easily led by those who had mastered a certain kind of wisdom based on deceit.

“Rhetoric teaches us to speak copiously and fluently on any given subject; not merely with propriety, but with all the advantages of force and elegance, wisely contriving to captivate the hearer by strength of argument and beauty of expression, whether it be to entreat or exhort, to admonish or applaud.” ~Washington State Blue Book of Freemasonry

They believed that this knowledge was unconsciously passed down by generation because like the sundial that signifies the passing of time; the spirit of wisdom likewise passes onto your progeny.

This spirit in Arabic was called “jinni”. Which is interesting choice for a word that became the name of the heraldic code passed from one generation to another; “genes”. Just like ancient times Jinn not only meant spirit but also hidden. The knowledge of creation and the spirit were hidden in the genes.

The knowledge is easily corrupted when one speaks in half truths and conclusions that appear wise can be come quite foolish.

An initiate could quickly become tricked by his pride. The gnome; also from gnosis, in fairy tales is often intelligent and easily tricks those who he comes in contact with.The gnome hordes gold and silver and lives within the earth. This is metaphor for the two types of light and knowledge; gold being the sun and silver being the moon. He is easily deceived since he does not have the full understanding, He looks down on those who he left; and looks up to those who would take advantage of his eagerness to learn.

This example of predation can be seen in the Orphic Mysteries as their symbol of the universe is a serpent wrapped around an egg. The mystical idea that the egg represents the soul of the philosopher and the snake represents the mystery schools is one way to view this symbol. In reality it shows the nature of the mystery schools that predates Darwin’s survival of the fittest by over 2000 years. To the thinking man it shows very clearly predator and prey. The seat of consciousness is stifled before it is even born.

The root of “Orph” is where we get the word Orphan in our English language. Orphan means destitute or deprived, Even today parent-less children are targeted for criminal practices. This can be seen on the streets of New York or a slum in Rio de Janeiro. Children are easily led because they have no vices, their moral relativity is easily swayed. (Orpheus was equated with Hermes and Thoth, also see Pied Piper of Hamelin)

Proverbs 9:16-18
Whoever is simple (wavering and easily led astray), let him turn in here! And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, Stolen waters (pleasures) are sweet [because they are forbidden]; and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knows not that the shades of the dead are there [specters haunting the scene of past transgressions], and that her invited guests are [already sunk] in the depths of Sheol (the lower world, Hades, the place of the dead). This secret wisdom was taught in the mystery schools of the mother goddess. The seven schools of thought were the 7 liberal arts; grammar, rhetoric, logic, arithmetic, geometry, music, astronomy.

Proverbs 9:1
Wisdom built her house; she has hewn out and set up her SEVEN [perfect number of] pillars.

We start to gain a clearer understanding of just what sort of twisted nous(mind) was being taught in the ancient world. True wisdom comes from within were as the systems taught that only the privileged were wise enough to be taught the ways of the control. Deceit and strength are the qualities of a good master of the mysteries.

Nous is also French for “Us”. It is their one mind of natural order.

“The principle has already been laid down that the best of either sex should be united with the best as often, and the inferior with the inferior and that they should rear the offspring of the one sort of union, but not of the other, if the flock is to be maintained in first-rate condition. Now these goings on must be a secret which the rulers only know, or there will be further danger of our herd, as the guardians may be termed, breaking out into rebellion.” ~Plato’s Republic

The final result of the mysteries is perception distorted by men of cunning. Remembering that a mist can obfuscate your vision.

Look to the natural world for your Gnosis you will became a Genius not persuaded by the ill intentions of others. The word Genius embodies the Greek god Janus. Janus did not regret the past or fear the future. He looked both ways and understood that true wisdom is revealed in due time.

I find when I write there is an inability to convey all the information and interesting parallels without diverging off of a topic so much so, as to lose the original thought. Given the knowlege we’ve just covered I would like to take you even deeper still.

I talked about children moral relativity as being easily swayed because they have no vices yet in life. You see a “novice” is a inexperienced member. in the ancient world newly broken soil was called “Novalis”. That is why indoctrination starts early. “Novello” meant to plant young vines. Perhaps this is why we are given “Novels” to read.

The idea of small parts in the seed of humans called homunculus(little man) was not far off when we think of genetic code as compact little parts of a human. We call these little parts DNA or Deoxyribonucleic acid.

The two gods that were venerated in the ancient world were Janus and his female counterpart Jana. Janus was a archetypal sun god. Jana’s name was a variation of Janus and was named later D’Jana or Diana and was identified with the moon. Both stem from each other and the suffix “DI” meant bright. Thinking of the spirit as a inner light. It is a strange occurrence that the Goddess of childbirth would be Diana and the acronym for the seed(code) of life would turn out to be DNA. (de-en-a)

Our work suggests that even with limited socialization, preverbal human infants may understand such displays.”

ScienceDaily (Nov. 17, 2010) — The language we speak may influence not only our thoughts, but our implicit preferences as well. That’s the finding of a study by psychologists at Harvard University, who found that bilingual individuals’ opinions of different ethnic groups were affected by the language in which they took a test examining their biases and predilections.

“Charlemagne is reputed to have said that to speak another language is to possess another soul,” says co-author Oludamini Ogunnaike, a graduate student at Harvard. “This study suggests that language is much more than a medium for expressing thoughts and feelings. Our work hints that language creates and shapes our thoughts and feelings as well.”

Implicit attitudes, positive or negative associations people may be unaware they possess, have been shown to predict behavior towards members of social groups. Recent research has shown that these attitudes are quite malleable, susceptible to factors such as the weather, popular culture — or, now, by the language people speak.

“Can we shift something as fundamental as what we like and dislike by changing the language in which our preferences are elicited?” asks co-author Mahzarin R. Banaji, the Richard Clarke Cabot Professor of Social Ethics at Harvard. “If the answer is yes, that gives more support to the idea that language is an important shaper of attitudes.”

Ogunnaike, Banaji, and Yarrow Dunham, now at the University of California, Merced, used the well-known Implicit Association Test (IAT), where participants rapidly categorize words that flash on a computer screen or are played through headphones. The test gives participants only a fraction of a second to categorize words, not enough to think about their answers.

“The IAT bypasses a large part of conscious cognition and taps into something we’re not aware of and can’t easily control,” Banaji says.

The researchers administered the IAT in two different settings: once in Morocco, with bilinguals in Arabic and French, and again in the U.S. with Latinos who speak both English and Spanish.

In Morocco, participants who took the IAT in Arabic showed greater preference for other Moroccans. When they took the test in French, that difference disappeared. Similarly, in the U.S., participants who took the test in Spanish showed a greater preference for other Hispanics. But again, in English, that preference disappeared.

“It was quite shocking to see that a person could take the same test, within a brief period of time, and show such different results,” Ogunnaike says. “It’s like asking your friend if he likes ice cream in English, and then turning around and asking him again in French and getting a different answer.”

In the Moroccan test, participants saw “Moroccan” names (such as Hassan or Fatimah) or “French” names (such as Jean or Marie) flash on a monitor, along with words that are “good” (such as happy or nice) or “bad” (such as hate or mean). Participants might press one key when they see a Moroccan name or a good word, and press another when they see a French name or a bad word. Then the key assignments are switched so that “Moroccan” and “bad” share the same key and “French” and “good” share the other.

Linguist Benjamin Lee Whorf first posited in the 1930s that language is so powerful that it can determine thought. Mainstream psychology has taken the more skeptical view that while language may affect thought processes, it doesn’t influence thought itself. This new study suggests that Whorf’s idea, when not caricatured, may generate interesting hypotheses that researchers can continue to test.

“These results challenge our views of attitudes as stable,” Banaji says. “There still remain big questions about just how fixed or flexible they are, and language may provide a window through which we will learn about their nature.”

The number also appears in Biblical Revelation 13:17-18 (Amplified Bible)

Again in the Bible it states  ( I Kings 10:14, II Chronicles 9:13) that Salomon received 666 talents of gold a year.

Today the mark of the beast has taken on new meaning and is feared as bringing about the New Word Order and the implantable RFID chip (Radio-frequency identification). Does this mean the mark of the beast is the RFID chip?….I don’t believe it does. But this doesn’t mean that it’s consequences are any less apocryphal and the true meaning of these mysterious numbers will parallel the intent behind the  RFID system.

Money has been used as a form of control for years and those that seek power must remain in control of  their money supply. Isis was a mother goddess. The mother goddess has always been identified with the water. Those who controlled the maritime trade of the ancient world would venerate her in hopes of calm seas and travel to complete their trading and slavery expeditions. She was depicted on many ancient coins throughout the ancient world including Roman currency up to 400 AD. The creation  of money  in the Roman Empire was exclusively held by 3-4 men known as “tresviri monetales” from c.300BC – 300AD.

What does Isis have to do with the Washington Monument? Isis was said to have born the child Horus(Egypt) also synonymous with the god Helios(Grk.), both were ancient sun gods. Imagine the sun being born from mothers waters…

Helios is equated with the Greek Halo meaning “round disk” from which the word Holy and Halo derives from. A coin can also be viewed as a symbol of Generation and it flows across the water. Money is a Curren(t)cy.

Three sixes?

Many things in the occult tradition are repeated in three’s. Sol-Om-On are all names of the ancient sun god in India, Egypt, Greece. In the masonic tradition Solomon was three time great much like Hermes and Thoth. Three time great because a good corporation(corpus)  has a body, mind and soul: workers, leaders and a purpose. These ancient gods Hermes and Thoth were personifications of thought and records keeping. The best kept records  today are still kept in Hermeticaly sealed vaults.

The number itself:

I will digress into some gematria here but this is not a sure science by any means; and by science I mean method. It has been said that the bible verse in Revelations 4 refers to 666 by use of “Holy, Holy, Holy” in reference to zodiac.

⁷The first living creature (being) was like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature had the face of a man, and the fourth living creature [was] like a flying eagle.

⁸And the four living creatures, individually having six wings, were full of eyes all over and within [underneath their wings]; and day and night they never stop saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty (Omnipotent), Who was and Who is and Who is to come.

The word Holy in the Greek version of Revelations 4:8 is Agios/Ayioc which means “He is Holy.” The word holy itself in Greek is “Agia/Ayia” The Gematria for Agia = 1+3+10+1=15…1+5=6 or 666.

Remember that all things in the Occult relate to understanding natural Processes. In particularly the movement of the Heavens and the Zodiac.

The four creatures being Lion (Mark:Fire:E); Ox (Luke:Earth:W) , Man (Mathew:Water:S), and Eagle (John:Air:N) representing the cardinal points;  four seasons and elements. The twelves tribes represent the the attributes of the twelves signs of the Zodiac that fall between the 4 seasons. 30⁰ X 12=360⁰.

There is a duality to nature Summer/Winter.  3+3+3+3:6+6=12″. 6 literally meaning generation as in “sex” and also meaning division as in “section. There are said to be 72 names of god and “6×12=72″  (see Septuagint, Shemhamphorasch, The Lesser Key of Solomon)

Why 6? 6×30°=180°.  180°+180°=360°.. (see Kissing Numbers, Sexagesimal # System)
666 is both a square and a triangle number.

When does 6 becomes 9? The infinite Spiral?

Mala (Buddhist/Hindu Prayer Beads) consist of 108 names of god.

It is interesting that these numbers appear in referring to the names of god in both Eastern and Western holy books and both Catholic and Buddhist alike use beaded garlands to reflect on the mysteries of god.

This is how Circles; Squares, Triangle and  Pentagrams connect to each other. The goal of many great thinkers was to develop a unified theory that determined how the universe operated by studying the patterns in nature.

We have only to look at the Gnostic goddess Abraxas to see this meaning illustrated again. Abraxas was said to have 365 angels circling her.

You see there are 360 angels ….I mean angles in a circle and 365 days in a year.

6 is mention three times not necessarily because six hundred and sixty six carries an ominous meaning but because 6 is a number to be remembered for it’s properties. The one splits and becomes 1 and 2. Two is never separate from the one. Without the one, two cannot exist. So 3 is in remembrance of father(God), man and women. The 3 traits of man and women; body, mind and soul unite(sex) to generate and create the 6. (1+2+3=6). The knowledge of the power of creation is the highest of achievements of the philosopher and the ability to predict and determine creation is his goal. To perfect what was left imperfect.

A fool seeks wisdom from a sovereign. Would a sheep seek wisdom from a wolf?

The Wolf  circles his prey:

The wolf goes in for the kill:

The sheep will speak no more:
